Laura Clay, White Hall (b.): With sisters, organized women’s rights rally in Frankfort, Kentucky in 1884. Lecturer and lobbyist, National American Woman Suffrage Association auditor 1895,  promoted states’ rights and segregation, opposed federal amendment, and ran large farm.

Lucie Willmot Smith, Louisville: Through her journalism kept women’s rights before black readers.
